"Clean Label Ingredients" Educational Webinar

"Clean Label Ingredients" Educational Webinar

Thursday, April 6, 2023 (12:00 PM - 1:30 PM) (CDT)

Description

Join Food & Beverage Manitoba along with Denise Webster of Food Brand Pro and Jaclyn Bowen MPH, MS of Clean Label Project with over 40 combined years of experience in food safety, compliance, and consumer trends as they elaborate on how to win with retailers and consumers when compliance with federal food safety regulations is no longer enough.

Key learnings from the webinar include:

  • Identifying the emerging consumer, retail, and regulatory market drivers contributing to the change in expectations
  • Recognizing the growing divide between the 'court of law' and 'court of public opinion' within your product category
  • Evaluating formulations to identify high risk ingredients
  • Adapting current food safety best-practices to accommodate for new and emerging consumer food safety concerns

According to "Global Clean Label Ingredients Market: Focus on Ingredients, Application, and Country-Wise Analysis - Analysis and Forecast, 2020-2026", the global clean label ingredients market is expected to grow with a CAGR of 8.65% and reach $32.08 billion by 2026.

Consumers have become highly educated about the detrimental effects of unnatural and processed foods and artificial ingredients, which is thereby driving the high demand for transparency. Clean label ingredients are the food industry's response to increasing consumer demand for consumables without questionable ingredients. At the same time, clean label is proving to be an evolving concept that has shifted in its meaning and significance over the years.

Most recently, the emerging issue of industrial and environmental contamination of finished food products has brands, retailers, and regulatory bodies scrambling to satisfy new consumer expectations around heavy metals, pesticide residues, and packaging migration issues from BPA/BPS, and phthalates.

Because of consumer perceived government inaction and corporate apathy, consumers are taking it upon themselves to serve as the arbiters of safety for their households with brands having to anticipate these new consumer needs and expectations.
