Processing/Packaging Labour

Position: Processing/Packaging Labour
Position Available: Immediate
Full time-Monday-Friday. Hours may vary
Reports to: Lead Hand on Processing Department or Lead Hand Packaging Department
Purpose: Able to process raw material and store under controlled conditions to make sure high quality and to avoid waste. Able to pack, weigh, seal and label meat products.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Processing
- Receive, check and store raw materials
- Operate and clean conveyor and processing equipment
- Assemble and operate machinery to do such things as mixing, grinding, blending, stuffing of raw materials
- Knowledge of the different products processed
- Processing involves a lot of lifting, pushing and dragging record keeping of the amount of processing performed
- Equipment and processing area must be kept clean
- Other duties as assigned
- Follow Food Safety Requirements
- Follow Health/Safety Requirements
Packaging
- Pack product into bags and counting, scaling, weighing, measuring and adjusting quantities
- Seal bags and attach pre printed labels
- Count and place bags into the boxes for shipping
- Record information such as numbers, weight, time and dates
- Moving or lifting heavy products for packing
- Operate machines and adjust machines to maintain volume and seal quality
- Knowledge of the product being packed
- Check cleanliness and operations of machines, equipment and work area
- Assembly line work
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Able to move and handle heavy buckets of raw material
- Able to move and handle heavy racks of product
- Able to follow directions
- Able to multi task
- Communication skills-have good spoken/written English
- Able to work independently
- An awareness of hygiene, health and safety issues
- Good physical health
Expectations:
- Able to cope with the physical demands of the job
- Good hand-eye coordination
- Knowledge of the different cuts
- Accuracy rate
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Attention to detail
- Able to work safely
Working Conditions:
- Standing for long periods of time
- Repetitive motion
- Cold and sanitary environment
- Slippery conditions
- Able to wear the required clothing and equipment for the area worked
